After a short drive from La Fortuna to the river dock, your guide will provide life jackets and assist you aboard the raft for a peaceful two-hour float along the Peñas Blancas River, sharing insights about Costa Rica’s wildlife, history, and local way of life. Floating quietly downstream increases your chances of spotting monkeys, iguanas, Jesus Christ lizards, owls, bats, and other species along the lush riverbanks. After returning to the dock, continue to Doña Mara’s home for a Tortilla-Making Experience with a local family. You’ll enjoy a refreshing tropical drink, learn how to prepare tortillas from freshly ground corn masa, and savor a traditional Costa Rican lunch cooked on a rustic wood-fired stove before returning to your La Fortuna hotel.
