About this experience

Explore the natural beauty of Sarapiqui region from the waters of the Sarapiqui River. In this tour, you will see and learn about the variety of wildlife and plants that can be seen only from the river.  This white water kayak trip (class I and II) gives beginners and advanced the opportunity to gain experience and paddle a new river. This trip is not a kayak clinic, but is a wonderful opportunity to practice your kayaking techniques under the guidance of a qualified instructor in a calm section of the river. The tour lasts about 4 hours in total and is great for passengers who are willing to paddle and follow instructions of the guide.

What you'll do

  1. The tour starts at 8:30 AM or 11:30 AM at our base in La Virgen de Sarapiquí. After gearing up, we take a short drive to the calm section of the Sarapiquí River. You'll begin with a safety briefing and basic paddling practice, then enjoy a fun and scenic 12 km descent on Class I–II rapids — perfect for beginners. Your guide will lead the way, help you improve your technique, and point out wildlife and jungle plants. After about 2 hours on the water, we return to the base where you’ll get a towel, change, and enjoy a fresh tropical snack.
