Spanning approximately 85 square kilometers (33 square miles), it is the largest lake in the country and a crucial source of hydroelectric power, supplying nearly 70% of Costa Rica’s renewable energy. Beyond its ecological and economic importance, Arenal Lake is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. The lake’s calm yet expansive waters are perfect for activities such as kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, jet skiing, and boat tours.
